MarineLens by NEXASPHERE
MarineLens is built for marine surveyors, boatyards, marinas, and detailers. Below are answers to the most common questions. If you need anything else, email [email protected].
Frequently asked questions
Does MarineLens require a LiDAR-capable iPhone?
For the highest measurement confidence, yes. iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro models all have a LiDAR scanner. Devices without LiDAR can still run MarineLens, but measurements are reported with a lower confidence score and a fallback notice so you know not to rely on them for insurance disputes.
How do I capture a hull-defect measurement?
On the Survey tab, tap Capture Damage. The AR view opens. Aim at the defect and tap once to place point A, then tap again at the far end to place point B. The distance between the two anchors is the measurement. You can reset and re-tap until you are satisfied, then tap Save Measurement. The result appears under Last Measurement with a confidence bar.
What ABYC chapters are wired in v1?
Six chapters ship in v1: H-3 Hull Structure, H-22 DC Electrical, H-24 Gasoline Fuel Systems, H-25 LPG, H-27 Seacocks, and H-32 AC Electrical. Each chapter ships with a small set of representative line items. We expand the line-item library monthly. ABYC chapter codes are property of the American Boat and Yacht Council; always consult the current standard text for compliance work.
Where do my LiDAR scans and survey PDFs go?
On your device only. Surveys, voice notes, draft prose, and PDF file paths are stored locally via Apple SwiftData. PDF reports and USDZ scans are written to your iOS app sandbox. If you tap Save to Photos, the file is exported to your iOS Photo Library. We have no server. Your data does not leave your iPhone unless you explicitly share it.
How does the per-foot detailer quote work?
On the Detailer tab, set your per-foot rate and surface multiplier, then tap Capture and Quote. The AR view opens for a two-tap measurement of vessel length. The quote is computed as length feet, times per-foot rate, times surface multiplier, rounded to cents.
What is in the Marina and Shop tabs in v1?
The Marina tab shows a slip dashboard preview with sample slip data and tap-to-cycle status changes. The Shop tab shows a work-order dispatch board. Both are functional in v1 against on-device data; multi-marina admin tooling and QuickBooks invoicing are deferred to v1.1.
Does the app need an internet connection?
No, with one exception. Survey capture, ABYC checklist, voice notes, draft prose, and PDF export all run on-device offline. The only network use is for the App Store to load subscription pricing and for a one-time receipt validation at purchase. After the initial validation MarineLens trusts the cached entitlement for 14 days offline.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open iPhone Settings, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, tap MarineLens, then tap Cancel Subscription. Apple manages all billing for the App Store. We cannot cancel or refund directly.
I found a bug or I have feedback. How do I reach you?
Email [email protected] with as much detail as you can share (your iPhone model, iOS version, what you were doing, what happened, what you expected). We read every message.
Still stuck?
Email [email protected] and a real human will reply. Please include your iOS version, your iPhone model, and a description of what you were doing when the issue happened.
