MarineLens by NEXASPHERE

Effective Date: May 18, 2026 · Operator: NEXASPHERE INC. (Delaware, USA) · Contact: [email protected]

The short version

MarineLens runs entirely on your iPhone. LiDAR scans of vessels, ABYC checklist results, voice notes, photos of hull defects, and the on-device draft prose all stay on your device. We do not have a server. We do not run a transcription service or a third-party AI service. The only data that ever leaves your iPhone is what you explicitly share, for example exporting a PDF report via the iOS share sheet, emailing a survey to a customer, or saving a USDZ scan to your Photo Library.

What we do not collect

We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell:

  • Your survey reports, ABYC checklist data, or voice notes
  • LiDAR scans, USDZ files, or hull photos
  • Customer names, vessel hull identification numbers, or owner contact data
  • Camera frames or microphone audio captured during a scan
  • Names, emails, phone numbers, or other personal contact information
  • Device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or IP addresses
  • Crash reports, usage analytics, or telemetry

We do not embed any third-party analytics SDK (no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Firebase, PostHog, Sentry, Crashlytics, or similar in this release). We do not embed any advertising SDK. We do not call any third-party transcription service. We do not call any third-party language model.

What stays on your device

The following is stored only in your device sandbox via Apple SwiftData with standard iOS data-protection encryption at rest:

  • Vessel records you create (name, HIN, length, beam, year, make, model, owner name)
  • Survey records (date, ABYC checklist results, voice transcript, draft prose, PDF file path, USDZ scan path)
  • Work orders, slip status updates, and detailer quotes
  • Your subscription state derived from an anonymous StoreKit receipt

Uninstalling the app deletes all of this. We have no way to recover it.

How LiDAR capture works

MarineLens uses ARKit and, on iPhone Pro and iPad Pro models, the LiDAR scanner via the Scene Reconstruction API. The AR session produces a depth mesh and lets you place two anchor points on a hull surface to measure a defect length or vessel length. Frames from the rear camera are passed to ARKit for tracking and surface estimation, then discarded. Camera frames are not written to disk, are not transmitted off device, and are not retained in memory beyond the session lifetime.

Devices without a LiDAR scanner can still run MarineLens. The measurement HUD reports a lower confidence score and surfaces the fallback warning so you know not to rely on the number for an insurance dispute.

Location

MarineLens may ask for permission to stamp a survey with the marina or yard location where it was performed. This is captured only at the moment you start a survey, never in the background, and is stored only with that survey record on your device. If you deny location permission, surveys are saved without a location stamp.

Photo Library

When you export a survey PDF or save a USDZ 3D scan, the file is saved to your iOS Photo Library using Apple PhotoKit. We do not see, log, or proxy your files. Your Photo Library is governed by iOS and your iCloud preferences, not by us.

In-app purchases

Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple StoreKit. We receive an anonymous receipt indicating that a purchase occurred, used solely to unlock paid features in the app. We do not see your name, your Apple ID, your billing address, or your payment method. Manage or cancel your subscription in iOS Settings under your name, Subscriptions. Apple privacy practices are at apple.com/legal/privacy.

App Store analytics

Apple App Analytics (the standard App Store metrics dashboard) reports aggregated, anonymized data to us, such as install counts and crash rates. These metrics are produced and aggregated by Apple and cannot be tied to individual users. Opt out at the device level in iOS Settings, Privacy and Security, Analytics and Improvements.

Children

MarineLens is a professional tool for marine surveyors, boatyard operators, and detailers. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.

Your rights under GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws

Because we do not collect or store any personal data on our servers (we have no servers), there is no data for us to access, port, correct, or delete in response to a data-subject rights request. All your data lives on your device and can be deleted by you at any time from within the app or by uninstalling. If you believe we have collected something despite this policy, email [email protected] and we will investigate.

Changes

If we ever change our data practices, we will update this page and the Effective Date above before the change takes effect. Any material change that introduces new data collection will be opt-in.
