Hypertension Diary is a daily blood-pressure logbook for adults monitoring at home between cardiology follow-up visits. It does not measure blood pressure on its own. Below are answers to the most common questions. If you need anything else, email [email protected].

How do I log a reading?
Open the Home tab and tap Log a reading. Enter systolic, diastolic, optionally pulse, the time, and the AM or PM window. Tap Save. The reading is stored locally on your iPhone.
Does Hypertension Diary measure blood pressure?
No. Hypertension Diary is a logbook. It records the numbers from your cuff or your doctor office machine. It does not measure or estimate blood pressure using your iPhone camera or any other sensor. Per Apple App Store policy and AHA guidance, apps that claim to measure blood pressure using only iPhone sensors are not permitted, and consumer cuffless smartphone estimates are not reliable enough for clinical use.
How does the AM and PM split work?
Every reading is tagged AM if you take it before noon and PM if you take it after noon. You can override the tag when saving. The Trends tab and the doctor PDF compute separate averages for AM and PM because the 2017 ACC/AHA hypertension guideline treats them as clinically distinct (the morning surge matters for diagnosis and titration).
How do medication overlays work?
On the Meds tab, add the blood-pressure medications you are taking with the start date and the dose. If your doctor changes a dose, edit the current med to add an end date and add a new med entry for the new dose. The Trends chart shows a vertical marker on every dose-change date so you can see how your readings moved after the change.
How does the doctor PDF work?
Go to the Trends tab and tap Generate doctor PDF, or open it from Settings. Pick a date range (the default is the last 90 days, which is what most cardiology follow-ups want). Choose whether to include medication changes. Tap Generate. The PDF is rendered on your iPhone in under three seconds and presented via the iOS share sheet so you can email it, AirDrop it, save to Files, or print it.
Why does the app ask for Apple Health permission?
Only if you opt in on the Settings tab. With permission, the app reads existing blood-pressure and heart-rate samples from Apple Health for the last 90 days, for example from a paired arm cuff or an Apple Watch. The read happens on device, and the app never writes back to Apple Health. You can revoke the permission in iPhone Settings, Privacy and Security, Health.
Where are my readings stored?
All readings, medications, and preferences are stored only on your iPhone in the app sandbox via Apple SwiftData with standard iOS data-protection encryption at rest. There is no account system. There is no cloud backup. Uninstalling the app deletes everything.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open iPhone Settings, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, tap Hypertension Diary, then tap Cancel Subscription. Apple manages all billing for App Store subscriptions. We cannot cancel or refund directly.
How do I delete all my data?
Open Settings, scroll to Data, tap Delete all readings, type DELETE to confirm, and tap Delete everything. This permanently removes every reading and medication entry from your iPhone. It cannot be undone.
