Easy Folders vs Superpower ChatGPT vs AI Chat Organizer (2026): The Honest Three-Way Comparison

Disclosure: I built AI Chat Organizer. This article calls out where Easy Folders and Superpower ChatGPT do specific things better than mine. The point isn't to win — it's to help you pick the one that actually fits.

If you Google "ChatGPT folders" or "organize ChatGPT conversations," you land on the same three Chrome extensions over and over: Easy Folders, Superpower ChatGPT, and AI Chat Organizer. They all promise to fix the same problem — your ChatGPT sidebar is a graveyard of half-finished conversations — but they go about it in completely different ways.

This is the honest three-way breakdown. Real pricing pulled from each Chrome Web Store listing, real features verified by installing each, and a verdict by use case so you don't have to read 4,000 words to decide.

The 90-Second Verdict

If you only have 90 seconds:

  • Easy Folders — Best if you want rich visual hierarchy, color-coded folders, and shareable team folders. Most expensive of the three at the top tier. Active Chrome user community.
  • Superpower ChatGPT — Best if you want a kitchen-sink "make ChatGPT better" extension. Folders are a small piece of a much larger feature set: prompt library, voice control, export, analytics. Trade-off: more bloat than you might want.
  • AI Chat Organizer — Best if you want fast, focused organization with the cleanest folders/tags/search experience and integration with your knowledge base (Obsidian, Notion). Cheapest paid tier of the three. New on the scene (Jan 2026 launch) — smallest user base, most-iterated UI.

If you don't fit cleanly into one of those: keep reading. The detail matters.

Why ChatGPT's Built-In Folders Aren't Enough

Before comparing the extensions, it's worth saying why people install one in the first place.

OpenAI shipped basic folders in 2024 and pinning before that. They work. But they have specific limits that frustrate active ChatGPT users:

  1. No nesting. You get one level of folders. If you have 50 client projects, that's 50 top-level folders cluttering the sidebar.
  2. No tags. A conversation can be in exactly one folder. If a chat is "client X" and "code review," you have to pick one.
  3. No bulk actions. Moving 30 chats into a new folder takes 30 individual drags.
  4. No search inside conversations. OpenAI search only matches conversation titles, not the message body inside. If you remember a code snippet but not which chat it lived in, good luck.
  5. No sync to your notes. Once a chat ends, it's stuck inside ChatGPT. No way to send the useful parts to Obsidian, Notion, or even a markdown file.

All three extensions in this comparison fix some subset of these. Where they differ is which problems they prioritize and how they make you pay.

Feature-by-Feature

The three extensions have a lot of overlap on basics (folders, search, pinning) and diverge sharply on advanced features. Here's the matrix.

Works on Gemini❌ No❌ No⚠️ Beta

A few things stand out:

  • All three handle the basics (folders, nested folders, bulk actions, search) well enough that the basics aren't the deciding factor.
  • Easy Folders is the only one with team-shared folders. If you work with a team that needs to share organizational structure, Easy Folders has no competition here.
  • Superpower ChatGPT is the only one with voice + token tracking. It's positioned as "the everything extension" — not just folders.
  • AI Chat Organizer is the only one that works across multiple AI chat platforms. Claude.ai, Perplexity, and Gemini (beta) all get the same organizational layer.
  • Tagging only exists in AI Chat Organizer. Easy Folders and Superpower require you to pick a single folder per chat.

Pricing — What You Actually Pay

Pricing pages change. As of this article, the public pricing on each extension's Chrome Web Store listing or official site:

Pro$4.99/mo or $39.99/yrUnlimited folders + tags, Obsidian/Notion sync, bulk export, multi-platform

Which One for Which Person

Generic comparisons miss the point. Here's the by-persona breakdown.

"I'm a solo professional with 100+ active chats"

Pick AI Chat Organizer. The combination of unlimited folders + tags + search inside content + Obsidian/Notion sync is the right shape for someone who needs every conversation findable months later. The $39.99/yr is the lowest-friction commitment.

"I work with a team that shares ChatGPT workflows"

Pick Easy Folders Superuser. This is the only extension with shareable team folders. Pay the higher price for the only thing that solves your actual problem.

"I want everything ChatGPT-related in one extension"

Pick Superpower ChatGPT. Folders, voice, prompts, export, analytics — one install, one subscription. The "everything bagel" approach has trade-offs (more UI, more clicks for simple things), but if you don't want to manage three extensions, this is the one.

"I use Claude.ai or Perplexity as much as ChatGPT"

Pick AI Chat Organizer. It's the only one of the three that works outside the ChatGPT.com domain. Easy Folders and Superpower ChatGPT are ChatGPT-only.

"I just want free folders and don't care about features"

Pick Superpower ChatGPT. The unlimited free folders win for users who just want OpenAI's missing folder feature without paying.

"I want to try paid first to see if it's worth it"

Pick AI Chat Organizer. Lowest annual commitment ($39.99) and a 7-day free trial means total downside is small.

What 1-Star Reviews Actually Say (read the criticism, not the marketing)

The most honest signal in any tool comparison comes from low-rating reviews. Here's the recurring themes from each extension's Chrome Web Store reviews (as of this article):

Easy Folders 1-3 star themes

  • Pricing complaints — Superuser tier feels expensive vs alternatives.
  • Sync delays between devices, especially when adding many folders quickly.
  • Some users want auto-categorization without paying for the top tier.

Superpower ChatGPT 1-3 star themes

  • Feels heavy / slow to load on lower-end hardware.
  • Updates occasionally break compatibility for a day or two while patches roll.
  • Some features feel like premium upsells (the line between free and Pro shifts).

AI Chat Organizer 1-3 star themes

  • New extension — small community, fewer Stack Overflow / Reddit threads when you hit a snag.
  • Cloud sync is "coming soon" not shipped (as of May 2026) — local-only currently.
  • Fewer reviews overall means less social proof for a buying decision.

Things All Three Get Right

Worth saying: all three work. They install cleanly, they don't break ChatGPT, they survive most ChatGPT UI updates within a day or two of each release, and they all let you cancel a paid subscription cleanly. There's no "obviously bad" option in this comparison. The right pick is the one whose strengths match your specific workflow.

What I'd Actually Do (in 2026)

If I were starting fresh today and didn't have a tool in place, my actual decision tree would be:

  1. Are you on a team that needs to share folders? → Easy Folders Superuser. Done. The only one that solves this.
  2. Do you use AI tools other than ChatGPT (Claude, Perplexity, Gemini)? → AI Chat Organizer. Only multi-platform option.
  3. Do you want a single extension that does everything ChatGPT-related? → Superpower ChatGPT. The "kitchen sink" option.
  4. None of the above, you just want fast organization with low friction? → AI Chat Organizer Pro at $39.99/yr. Cheapest commitment, focused feature set.

Bottom Line

These three extensions are not in zero-sum competition. They optimize for genuinely different users:

  • Easy Folders — visual hierarchy + team collaboration
  • Superpower ChatGPT — "everything ChatGPT" Swiss army knife
  • AI Chat Organizer — focused, multi-platform, cheapest paid tier

Pick the one that maps to your problem. If that turns out to be AI Chat Organizer, you can install it free from the Chrome Web Store here. If it's one of the others, install that one — you'll be better served using a tool that fits than fighting the wrong one because of the brand on its icon.
