Articulate: Accent Coach by NEXASPHERE
Effective Date: May 18, 2026 · Operator: NEXASPHERE INC. (Delaware, USA) · Contact: [email protected]
The short version
Articulate runs entirely on your iPhone. Your voice recordings, the text the app transcribes from your speech, and the phoneme-level scoring all stay on your device. We do not have a server. We do not send your audio to a transcription service. We do not call a third-party language model. The only data that ever leaves your iPhone is what you explicitly share through the standard iOS share sheet.
What we do not collect
We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell:
- Your voice recordings
- Transcriptions of your speech
- Per-utterance pronunciation scores tied to your identity
- Names, emails, phone numbers, or any contact information
- Device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or IP addresses
- Crash reports, usage analytics, or telemetry
We do not embed any third-party analytics SDK (no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Firebase, PostHog, Sentry, Crashlytics, or similar in this release). We do not embed any advertising SDK. We do not call any third-party speech recognition service. We do not call any third-party language model.
What stays on your device
The following is stored only in your device sandbox via Apple SwiftData with standard iOS data-protection encryption at rest:
- Your selected goals, native language, and English frequency from onboarding
- Voice recordings in a sandboxed Recordings directory
- Per-attempt pronunciation scores and detected phoneme substitutions
- Streak counters and phoneme mastery progress
You can delete all of the above at any time from Settings → Delete all my data. Uninstalling the app also removes everything.
How speech scoring works
When you record a drill, Articulate writes a short audio file to your sandbox and asks Apple's on-device speech recognizer to transcribe it. The recognizer runs locally with requiresOnDeviceRecognition set to true. The transcription is then compared against the expected phrase phoneme by phoneme to compute your score. Both the audio and the transcription stay on your iPhone.
Subscriptions and payments
Subscription purchases are handled by Apple via StoreKit. Apple collects your payment information under its own privacy policy. We receive an entitlement token that tells the app whether you have an active subscription. We never see your card or your name through this flow.
Age requirement
Articulate is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use the app. The first screen of onboarding requires you to confirm this. We do not process the data of anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from a person under 18. If you believe a minor has used the app, email us at [email protected] and we will remove any associated data.
International users
Because all processing happens on your device, the data protection regimes of the EU (GDPR), UK (UK GDPR), Canada (PIPEDA), Australia (Privacy Act 1988), Illinois (BIPA), Texas (CUBI), and Washington (My Health My Data Act) do not place us in scope as a processor or controller of biometric or special-category data. We collect no biometric identifiers and no special-category personal information.
Your rights
Since we do not store any of your personal data on our servers, the standard rights of access, correction, deletion, portability, and objection are fulfilled entirely on your device. Use Settings → Delete all my data to wipe everything. To export your progress and recordings, use the standard iOS Files app.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes (for example, if a future version introduces optional cloud sync), we will update the effective date above and surface the change in the app before the new behavior activates.
