The short version

SubGrade runs entirely on your iPhone. We don't have a server. We don't collect your data. We don't connect to your bank. We can't see your subscriptions, your spending, your cancellation proofs, or how often you use the app. There is nothing for us to leak, sell, or hand over — because we never had it.

What we do not collect

We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell:

• Personally identifiable information (name, email, phone, address)
• Account credentials (the app has no account system)
• Bank account information, financial data, or Plaid connections
• Your subscription list, spending data, or cancellation history
• Photos you take of cancellation confirmations
• Usage analytics, streaks, grades, or any behavioral data
• Device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or IP addresses
• Crash reports or telemetry

We do not embed any third-party analytics SDKs (no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, no Firebase, no Sentry, no Crashlytics). We do not embed any advertising SDKs. We do not use Plaid, Yodlee, MX, or any financial data aggregator.

What stays on your device

The following is stored exclusively in your device's local sandbox via Apple's SwiftData:

• Your subscription entries (names, prices, renewal dates, usage frequency, grades)
• Cancellation proof photos and thumbnails
• Your subscription-free streak record
• Keep/Kill swipe history
• Notification preferences

Uninstalling the app deletes all of this. We have no way to recover it.

Camera and photo library access

SubGrade requests camera access only when you tap "Save Proof" to photograph a cancellation confirmation. Photos are compressed and stored locally on your device. They are never uploaded to any server. You can also select existing screenshots from your photo library via Apple's PhotosPicker.

In-app purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit 2. We receive an anonymous receipt indicating that a purchase occurred, used solely to unlock Pro features in the app. We do not see your name, your Apple ID, your billing address, or your payment method.

Cheaper alternative recommendations

SubGrade suggests cheaper alternatives for some subscriptions. Some recommendations contain affiliate links. When you sign up through these links, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. Recommendations are sorted by price (cheapest first), not by commission rate. Free alternatives are always shown alongside paid options. Affiliate links open in Safari (your external browser), not inside the app.

Notifications

If you enable renewal reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device using Apple's UserNotifications framework. Notification content is generated on-device. No notification content is sent to or through us.

Children

The app is rated 4+ and contains no user-generated communication, no third-party content, and no data collection. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If we ever change our data practices, we'll update this page and the effective date above before the change takes effect. Material changes that introduce data collection of any kind will be opt-in.
